The Christian Liberty Academy Preschool will provide three-year-old children with a developmentally appropriate Christian education that will prepare them for Junior Kindergarten. The Preschool will provide a safe, nurturing environment for students to develop intellectually, physically, socially, and spiritually.
We have developed a phonics-based curriculum that introduces a new letter of the alphabet each week. Students will learn the sound of each letter, number recognition, colors, shapes, time, and math/science concepts, all through a multi-sensory approach. All activities will be structured to develop and strengthen motor, coordination, visual, auditory, communication and social skills. Most importantly, preschoolers will hear God’s Word on a daily basis and learn to praise Him in song and prayer.
Admission shall be open to any child providing the school can meet the needs of that child. Enrollment in Christian Liberty Academy Preschool will be determined by available space and a system of placement priorities. Priority is first given to families with other children attending CLA, then to families working at the Academy or CLASS, and finally, to the community-at-large.
In order to secure a place for your child, a non-refundable registration fee (per child) must be paid at the time you send or drop off the completed application and enrollment form. No application will be considered without a paid registration fee and a copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport. If your child is on a waiting list and a class is not found for him/her, we will refund the registration fee.
See Preschool Tuition Schedule for full details. There will be a flat-rate late payment fee of. There will be a fee for “not sufficient funds” (NSF) checks. After two NSF checks, we will no longer accept personal checks, and subsequent payments must be made in cash, by money order, or by credit card.
All tuition payments made by cash or credit card must be made at the Academy Office or Finance Secretary’s Office.
Checks may be dropped off in the Preschool mailbox or given to the director. For your convenience you may schedule automatic credit card billing or pay by electronic check. Call Mrs. Sue Aiello at 847-385-2016 to arrange automatic payment. The Preschool office will have a locked drop box for checks only. All payments made to the Finance Secretary’s office will be credited the next business day. A Preschool student will not be allowed to attend class if there is an outstanding balance on their account. Progress reports will be held until all bills are paid in full.
Children starting school after the September start date will need to contact Mrs. Aiello to get the correct pro-rated tuition amount.
CLA encourages parents to pay in cash. A cash discount of $50 is given to families who make full payment of their total annual tuition bill in cash by September 1st. Families paying cash on a semester or monthly basis will NOT be assessed a service charge. There is no service charge if the total annual tuition bill is paid in full by September 1st. To recover bookkeeping costs for multiple payments, we must assess a service charge per student as follows: $15/per student/per semester or $5/per student/per month. Families can avoid the service charge by paying cash on a semester or monthly basis. See the Preschool Enrollment form for complete details.
Enrollment is continuous for CLA-Preschool students; that is, a student is considered enrolled (with tuition due monthly) until the end of the school year in June. Tuition must be paid as long as your child is enrolled, whether or not he or she actually attends. Changes to enrollment are subject to availability, and two weeks notice is required for any change in enrollment. Parents must clear any changes in enrollment with the director who will determine if the days/times you need are available. Tuition will be pro-rated and billed accordingly.
All schedule changes that take place after October 5th, 2012 will incur a $30.00 fee per occurrence. This means that you have one month from the start of school to try your child’s schedule to see if it is working well for you and your child. After that, we will charge a fee for any changes made. This is due to the fact that each change in schedule requires the accounting staff to take time to pro-rate your tuition and send you the new payment plan based on those changes. Any changes made, whether it is changing from morning to full day or vise versa, or adding/subtracting days from your original schedule, will incur the $30.00 fee. (Please note that NO CHANGES in scheduling may be made without the director’s prior knowledge and consent.)
Likewise, all students who enter the school in January 2013 will have until February 1st to make a schedule change without penalty. There will be a $30.00 penalty incurred for each schedule change after that date for those students.
Parents wishing to withdraw their child must give two weeks notice; remaining tuition (less any outstanding balance) will be pro-rated and refunded within 30 days .There will be a $50.00 withdrawal fee charged. Please fill out a withdrawal form in the front office. If CLA Preschool determines that a child cannot adjust to the preschool program, parents will be asked to withdraw their child without having to pay a withdrawal fee.
*PM class note: We must have a total of at least 7 students per day enrolled in the PM class or the PM class will be cancelled and those students offered a spot in an AM class. The PM class will meet from 12:30-3:45 PM. Any after-school care will be billed at $8.00/hour or $18.00/Day. After-school care is available from 3:45-6 PM.
Parents choosing a 2 or 3-Day Program may choose a schedule that meets the needs of their family and student if enrolled prior to July 1st. After July 1st, schedule choices may be limited-please contact the director for available days. Once chosen by the parent, the schedule for which a child is enrolled is continuous; changes to enrollment are subject to availability. (SEE Financial Policies: Enrollment).
**NOTE** Any Preschool Program may be canceled at the administration’s discretion.
Firm, fair and consistent limits are set to create a positive atmosphere in the classroom. Inappropriate behavior will be addressed consistently in a spirit of Christian love. The goal of discipline is to teach self-government and maintain order, not to exact vengeance or humiliate. Parents will be informed of persistent misbehavior. Persistent disruptive or aggressive behavior will be grounds for dismissal of the child by the Christian Liberty Academy Preschool.
The Christian Liberty Academy Preschool will make every effort to maintain a teacher/student ratio of 1:10. Each class will also have a teaching assistant.
CLA-Preschool students will receive progress reports twice a year: at the end of the second Academy quarter and at the end of school year in June. The progress reports are not grades, but rather inventories of a child’s skills and behaviors.
Parents wishing to discuss any aspect of their child’s preschool experience are encouraged to speak to their child’s teacher first. According to Academy policy, parents’ concerns regarding any event or issue must be addressed to the teacher involved before concerns can be brought to the Academy administration. Because drop-off and pick-up times are very busy for parents and teachers, please schedule an appointment with a teacher by calling the preschool office and leaving a voice mail for the teacher you wish to speak to.
The Preschool is located at the north end of the building; it is accessible from both the outside and the inside of the building. Students will have convenient access to a bathroom, gym, and play ground. CLA-Preschool has considered the standards set forth by the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale in constructing and furnishing the Preschool facility.
The Preschool can be accessed by a security door with a keypad entry system from Ridge Avenue. Only CLA Preschool parents have the code to enter the building this way. All other people must enter through the main school entrance off of Walnut Ave. All other doors are locked to outsiders during the school day. Persons authorized by the parents of any preschool student to pick up their child must be listed on an authorization card, which the Preschool will keep on hand for reference. Complete contact information must be provided for each person (name, address, phone number and relationship to the student).
Under no circumstances will a child be released to anyone who is not listed on the authorization card. Parents are encouraged to consider authorizing extended family members and any other responsible adults who might be asked to pick up a preschool student. Parents and those picking up children regularly will be assigned a Parent Pass badge, which is to be worn at all times when in the building. All others must go to the front office to receive a visitor’s pass. We ask parents to cooperate with all Preschool procedures and policies concerning drop-off and pick-up so that we may maintain the safety of all children in our care at all times. We ask that parents keep the CLA Preschool up to date on any change of phone number, address, or custody status that may affect the Preschools' ability to reach a parent.
You will be sent an Academy Calendar on which will be noted days off, holiday breaks, and school start and end dates. This information is also available on the school website.
The CLA Preschool will operate between the hours of 8:15AM and 6:00PM. Whether a child attends two, three, or five days a week, AM, PM or Full Day, he will learn the day’s lessons in a structured classroom experience. Supporting activities, crafts and play will highlight the weekly phonics letter. In addition to the academic lessons, students have music time, a snack, Bible story and gym/playground time.
Academic Day for AM Students: Class time begins promptly at 8:30 AM and ends at 12:00 PM. You may drop off your preschooler as early as 8:15 AM and pick them up between 11:45 AM and 12:00 noon. If it is necessary to drop your child at school before 8:15 AM, a Before-School Supervision program is available from 7:00-8:15 AM in the Faith Gym for an extra fee of $6.00/day, which will be billed monthly according to how many days it is used by you. (The fee is $5.00 for 7:30-8:15)
Academic Day for PM students: Class begins promptly at 12:30 PM and ends at 3:45 PM. There is no Before-School Supervision option for PM students. There is an After-School Supervision option: Your child will be supervised in the lower level of the Preschool from 3:45-6 PM at your request. You will be billed monthly for the days you use this care at the rate of $8.00/Hour or $18.00/Day.
Academic Day for Full Day Students: Class time begins promptly at 8:30 AM and ends at 6:00 PM. You may drop off your preschooler as early as 8:15AM and pick them up any time up to 6:00 PM. Students have lunch* (12:00 PM – 12:30 PM), play time (12:30-12:45 PM), story time (12:45-1:00 PM), nap (1 – 3 PM), PM snack and free play & planned activities (3:00-6:00 PM). If it is necessary to drop your child at school before 8:15 AM, a Before-School Supervision program is available from 7:00-8:10 AM in the Faith Gym for an extra fee of $6.00/day, which will be billed monthly according to how many days it is used by you. *(Lunch is to be brought from home. We will provide a morning and afternoon snack.)
Please pick up your student on time. If pick-up is delayed for any reason, parents will be charged additional fees. AM students are dismissed from their academic day at 12:00 PM. A Late Pick-Up Fee of $12/hr will apply and be billed at $2 per 10 minutes or any portion thereof, beginning at 12:01 PM. For example, an AM student being signed out at 12:20 will incur a $4 charge.
For PM students, late fees will be billed at $12.00/hour after 3:45 PM, unless you have arranged for After-School Supervision at least a day in advanced.
Late Pick-Up Fees will be charged to Full-Day students beginning at 6:01 PM. Late Pick-Up Fees are $30/hr and will be billed at $5 per 10 minutes or any portion thereof.
If your child is a half-day student and they are still in school at 12:15 PM, we will feed them lunch at a cost of $4.00 payable to the Preschool in cash.
To be considered for admission a child must be independent in the bathroom. No ‘pull-ups’ allowed. We understand that young children have accidents; no child will be disciplined for a toilet accident. Parents may be asked to withdraw their child if their child has accidents regularly.
