On Saturday, March 9th, 18-CLA 7th and 8th grade students exhibited science projects at the Illinois Junior Academy of Sciences (IJAS) Region 6 Exposition, hosted at Niles North High School, Skokie, IL (see above results summary). Approximately 700 student projects from 46 schools were on display at the exposition. CLA students earned a total of 10-Gold, 6-Silver and 2-Bronze Awards. Overall, CLA placed 3rd as a Division A school.
Several students received Special Events Awards. Andrew Keyser (8th) was recognized by IJAS for Best In Category (Chemistry) and the Optical Society of Chicago recognized Jesse Castro (7th) for Best Project in Optics Related Technology.
Several CLA students received special nominations; Leo Rule (8th) was an IJAS Semi Finalist Nominee for the International Science and Engineering Fair. Also, Leo Rule, Tommy Lowry (8th) and Simon Su (8th) received nominations to advance to the Broadcom MASTERS, national science, technology, engineering and math competition for 6th, 7th and 8th graders.
Qualifying Gold Award winners will advance the the IJAS State Exposition on May 4th at the University of Illinois, in Champaign, IL.

Students from the 6th, 7th and 8th grades exhibited their science projects at the annual CLA Science Fair, January 28th.
All of the 7th and 8th grade students recognized received invitations to advance to the Illinois Junior Academy of Science (IJAS) Region 6 Exposition on Saturday, March 9th at Niles North High School.
